Our Mission Statement

An independent resource to support excellence in transportation

Who We Are

The Kern Transportation Foundation was created by a group of business and government officials to support transportation programs in Kern County, California. The Kern region was experiencing significant growth the 1980’s and 1990’s. However, with that population and housing growth, transportation funding was not keeping pace. The need for the organization was identified when several of the transportation systems within Kern County were incomplete and/or underfunded. The Articles of Incorporation were issues by the California Secretary of State on February 11, 1992. Since its incorporation the Kern Transportation Foundation has funded and prepared several studies including, “The Roads to Ruin” ( ), and “The California High-speed Rail Terminal Study”.

About The Kern Transportation Foundation
